Medical marijuana is completely legal in Mississippi. On February 2, 2022, Governor Tate Reeves signed the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act into law. That means if you have a valid medical marijuana card, you won’t get into trouble for buying, owning, or using any of our products.

Technically, there’s no major difference between medical marijuana and the recreational variety. One isn’t necessarily any stronger or better than the other, and both have a similar concentration of THC (the substance in marijuana that comes from the cannabis plant and produces the “high” feeling). The main difference between medical marijuana and recreational marijuana is how they’re sold — and that using recreational marijuana is still illegal.
Dispensaries in some states can legally sell recreational marijuana, but Mississippi isn’t yet one of them. There’s been at least one attempt to legalize recreational marijuana, but so far, possessing weed without a medical marijuana card is against the law in our state.
Marijuana Product Terms To Know
If you’ve never visited a medical marijuana dispensary before, you may find yourself overwhelmed by our product selection. Here’s a quick breakdown of a few of the products we offer:
- Buds and flowers: This is the part of the marijuana plant that you can smoke. Our dispensary sells cured flowers by weight.

How To Get a Medical Marijuana Card
Don’t have a medical marijuana card yet? You’ll need one to buy products when you visit our Bay St. Louis marijuana dispensary. Here’s how to get yours.
First, you’ll need to register with Mississippi’s Medical Cannabis portal system. Don’t apply for a card just yet; that step comes later.
Next, see your doctor to verify that you have a condition that qualifies you for a medical marijuana card. Mississippi allows cards for 22 conditions, some of which include:
- Cancer
- HIV+ and AIDS
- Chronic and debilitating pain
- Crohn’s disease
- Intractable nausea
- Glaucoma
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Autism
- Hepatitis
- Epilepsy and other seizures
Once your doctor has verified that you qualify, they’ll authorize you for the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Program.
Finally, apply for your card within 60 days of your doctor’s qualification. To finish your application, you’ll need to give some basic information, complete a questionnaire, and upload a photo of yourself. Once approved, you should get your card within five days.
How Can Medical Marijuana Help?
Medical marijuana can help with a variety of symptoms by regulating your endocannabinoid system and helping the chemicals in your body work better. If you’re a cancer patient, for instance, you may struggle with a lack of appetite. Marijuana can improve your appetite so your body gets the nutrition it needs.
